I knew it was all going too well...

I had managed to get two horses plaited, tack cleaned and the lorry packed the night before and arrived in the morning to find their plaits looked as immaculate as they had the night before!

So at 7am I got both Diva and Danny ready, booted and bandaged and went to to start the lorry and...

IT WOULD NOT START!

The battery was flat, so it is freezing and dark and YO and OH are rooting around underneath the lorry trying to jump start it. They failed and so poor YO's OH is dragged out of bed and eventually we get it going and manage to leave 50 minutes later than planned! OH's mum is trying to contact the venue to say we will be late to no avail so poor OH's dad is told to drive on ahead flat out and see if they can re-arrange times for our first test!

Having consumed most of a bottle of Rescue Remedy I am felling really chilled and can't see why everyone is else is pulling their hair out

Have a really good run down and I say to OH he can take my first test on Danny as it is a clients horse and a potential buyer is coming to view him. I tell him he can refund my entry later - see I am all heart! Meanwhile OH's dad has spoken to the venue and they have very kindly agreed that OH can take my time and I can slot in at the end!

So we arrive and frantically get Danny ready who has about a 5 minute warm-up before he is dragged in. Does a really sweet test and gets 65% and wins the open section.

Meanwhile Diva is standing in her pink finery and then it is a mad dash to get Danny untacked and Diva ready for me. By now the weather is cold and drizzley so it takes both Diva and me a while to get going.

She didn't feel as soft and she can do but there were some nice moments, so we went in and did an OK test not our best I was pleased as we got 62% and came second in the restricted and it was a big class.

Decided not to do my second test as her saddle needs checking and I think that may have been why she was not as easy as she can be, plus it was rubbish weather and I am getting old!

So took Diva back rugged her up and got Danny ready for the lady who was coming to see him. They were running a bit late - not helped by me! So he did a bit too much in the warm-up and so by the time he went in he was a bit flat but as always OH did a nice test and came 3rd overall with 64%.

We had an uneventful journey and got home in one piece!

Sounds like pretty good results to me - lorries are soooo frustrating when they won't work. Mine has decided that as I am obviously ignoring him, he is going to develop a diesel leak.

Needless to say I am not talking to him (and yes it is a him, anything that can cause that much grief is a him in my book!) and also my wheelbarrow has got a flat tyre so what with all that I've had enough of horses at the moment.
Hope you have thawed out now

Thanks - Diva is such a good girl so although she didn't do anything wrong I just got the feel she wasn't that comfortable. Saddler is coming Friday and I have the physio and dentist booked so should have her feeling fine in no time at all!

I rang my dad, who bearing in mind has lorry recovery and repair centre and he said "I'm going shooting and I've lost my wallet."
Oh right thanks Dad!
He just moans about horseboxes and trailers in general saying that we should expect them to go wrong as we don't use them enough!
Don't think I have felt warm all weekend so have just boiled myself in a bath for an hour and now look 103!
