I have been driving around and looking on the web for DIY yards in the S.Derbys area but not had much luck so far so throwing it to any locals on here! Does anyone know of any yards in either the Derby/S.Peak district to S. Chesterfield area or East of the A61 between Barnsley and Sheffield sort of area?
Facilities needed are:
decent school pref 60x20 and if there is a small indoor for winter that would be luxury!
good hacking
small groups in the fields 2-3 horses (or individual paddocks big enough for 2)
Not on a dealers yard or riding school, and stables with doors that are not too narrow

Or are there any magazines that cover the area, or tack/feed shops that have a lot of adverts in them? I did find a feed shop advertised in one place but when I got there it had moved or closed down

It seems most places are word of mouth which is great if you know who to talk to

PM is fine if you prefer

Theres not much that I know of over this way that offers diy with those facilities.

I did just leave a nice friendly yard, on what was a farm (left through no fault of the yard) They have vacancies atm as I know a lass with 3 has bought her own place with land. School is small though and some wire - so you'd have to have your own leccy for your horses - some do some don't.

Sundial Farm does also have big boxes, a 20 x 40, nice owners, but it may be full. Think you can get the number from yell.com it's in Hoober/Wentworth on the border of Rotherham and Bansley.

Thanks for the replies, I will try to find those two next week, looks as if its going to be a trek to find a yard in the area

If there are not many around it explains why I could not find them!!

Looks as if it means looking south of Derby then, there could be a few more there - then I need to relocate myself to tthat area instead of further north!

I'm on a yard in South Derbyshire that has a couple of places coming up soon. If you are interested and can persuade me that you are a normal person not into parelli, not mare hating and likes lovely long hacks then I might be persuaded to part with more details

Pm me if you want to know more

Pm me please!!!

I pwomise I only have headcollar ropes, my horses do not play games (well only with me!!), I own a mare (yes I do sometimes hate her but I soon get over it!), I think I'm pretty normal and I can get references from my current YM if needed to state that I use the commom sense method with my horses!!

they only do full livery, but thanks for the link. I will have to spend a couple of days driving around just looking for yards and see what I can find.

Is etwall to far south? There is a lot round there. Or I used to share a horse at a yard near ticknall that was very well equipped.

Or try the newark area of Nottinghamshire if you are flexible, there are loads of yards there and lovely hacking round newstead abbey way.
