DIY livery near gloucester

Currently at hartpury college and keep my horses a few miles away but next year i am living in Gloucester and want to find somewhere nearer to home so at weekends im not driving miles to the yard all the time.

Obviously i am going to have a look around myself but i thought id post on here and get some first hand opinions on what yards are best?

Have you asked about the local yard that Hartpury rents for students?
If that's too close to college then it depends where abouts in Glos you're living...

The hartpury maisemore yard is supposed to be good.

Speak to Sam Goss - have a feeling shes got livery spaces and shes 5 min drive from hartpury college.

Do summerhouse do DIY? Id go into Colne saddlery or hartpury saddlery and look on noticeboards and ask for their opinion, theres quite a few yards around the place.


Theres 1 yard to avoid though up in eldersfield, it shares the same name as the XC course in ledbury (so im not completely naming them!) ...

You'll struggle to find anywhere that is closer to Glos than Hartpury, there is only really Maisemore. Otherwise you will be travelling in the opposite direction from Hartpury, and just end up doubling yor travelling time.

In my second year I lived in the City and had my Horse at Leadon, it's on the other side of Hartpury, but I was on Flexi DIY and didn't have the time restrictions that you find with Hartpury. I also had to travel past College to get the the yard.

In my third year I went back to keeping my horse at Uni, but still lived in Gloucester. Now I live and keep my horse in Newent, which would have been ideal whilst I was at Uni, however not so convient for going out
