diy lunging pen

Hi everyone my instructor has been teaching me how to lunge my horse and its really helping her balance her canter and helping her have a more collected canter in the saddle so hes suggested i make myself a lunging pen of my own but just wondered if anyone has made one and how? what size? materials used etc if u have any photos would be great to. thanks

i just lunge on grass field.

used to tape off area with white horse fence tape which took minutes to put up. but now just lunge on open field and he sticks to a great large circle

I just used some electric fencing (not on!!) on grass

If the point is that the mare falls out through her outside shoulder and lunging in a pen helps her learn to sit up on her hocks because she can't evade through the shoulder to pull herself along on the forehand then electric fencing / tape won't help as much as a temporary solid barrier.

If this is the issue then you can thread the lunge line in a particular way to keep control of the outside shoulder but this may provoke shrieks of horror - it should not be done for long periods of time.
