Hi all
I am in the process of building a menage, I am debating on what surface to use. I am undecided with sand and chopped rubber which one would you say is better, cheaper, and how many tonnes would I need to fill a 20 by 40 roughly x thanks

A mix of the 2 works well as sometimes sand on its own can freeze hard like concrete.
Alruba Rubber are a good supplier for rubber and they will answer any questions you have :O)

Get some advice on building an arena!
The most important is good drainage. Get that wrong and the rest is just a waste.

I dislike a plain sand arena. It moves a lot and is hard work on the horses. Go for a sand base and rubber on the top. Tis stops it moving anywhere as much and if you go for rubber go for the bigger chippings as they move even less.

This surface requires less maintenance than the small stuff.
