DIY or rent a field

We are moving to a DIY yard tomoz and I am having last minute jitters!!! Have four horse currently on a farmers field with our own field shelter and storage. Flat fiedl divided up with lecky fencing. ( one horse keeps getting through) as we are only people who use the fields they are in good condition and well poo picked. Field is out of normal show/ work route so more petrol needed, hacking is rubbish and can only ride in the field.
Where we are going to is DIY with ok grazing although never 24/7 turn out on day turn out and in at night. Nice outdoor menage with lights so can ride in evening. Owner has done a good deal on the DIY livery as we have 3 horses she has heavily discounted us and she is having our 4th on loan. I go passed the yard on my way to work each day so is on route and is only about 2 miles from home so could also walk it if needed. My sons friends all keep their horses there also so he can have fun with his mates not just the olds! I Am worried about no 24/7 turnout but hope we can all cope!!! what do you all think. Am i worrying about nothing.

I think that you have probably picked THE best time of the year to get yourself & the horses used to being in at night. Had it been mid summer, you'd be wavering more?

Yes, you've prob got the jitters cos you are going somewhere different, but if you are going to save money on it & have facilities you don't have currently, then its prob for the best

Just remember - don't get involved in yard politics

It sounds like it will be great for everyone. As long as there is an option of some turnout a day it should be fine. It may be a shock to the system for you to have three to muck out! Your son will love being free to ride with his friends, and it will be wonderful to hack out - who wants to just go round a field! Just don't read the thread about bad livery yards! Best of luck.x
