Hello Everyone!

This is my first post on the forum!

I am going to study at the Royal Agricultural College Cirencester in October and wanted some recommendations of yards near there.
DIY preferred as close as possible and reasonable price.

thank you so much xxx

Hi,
I'm a second year student at the RAC. A few of my friends keep their horses in and around the Ciren area.

Will Mifflin does have a yard very close to the college itself, it has nice stabling, good hacking and an outdoor arena with showjumps. My friend liked keeping her horse there.

Otherwise there is a yard about a 5minute drive away called Ampney Downs. This isn't as 'smart' as the Mifflins but it would probably be where i'd chose to keep a horse. The stables are of a good size, there are now 2 outdoor arenas, plenty of off-road hacking and a cross country course. The price is very reasonable; all hay and straw is included in the price. There are also some events held there and boxes going out hunting regularly.

There are plenty more in the area, though a bit further away. My friend kept hers towards Stroud at a nice little yard. The college itself is now offering DIY livery at Fosse Hill Farm (their Polo yard), again the livery is fairly reasonable, the downside is however that there is no arena.

Hope this helps. The college does have a ''good livery guide'' which they would give you should you enquire.

I agree the hacking at ampney down is absolutely fantastic and the new school is fab but I'm afraid I just didn;t get on with the YO (OP feel free to PM me). I also found it a bit of a trek from the college twice a day (8 miles so a good 15mins) and the YO won't turn out in the morning or bring in the evening for you.

Fosse hill is absolutely lovely, the YM couldn't be any nicer or more helpful and the exercise track is such a great facility to have. Plus you can hack across the fields to cirencester park

My horses love it there, it's a 5min drive, 10min cycle or 20min walk across the fields from college and it's £86.66 per month in the winter and £48 per month in the summer, ampney down is £155.

Other people at college have horses at miflins which is very near but normally full up, and my friend has her horse at a yard in siddington although I don't know the name of it (not very helpful sorry).

Have sent you a very long PM about my experiences at ampney down, would love to post it on here because some of it is very funny but I think I'll be in big trouble.
