After 2 and a half months of being lame montys still not been x-rayed yet (hopefully soon when i have the money) but is starting to look better. He was on 1 danilon a day untill when out hacking would show signs of his old quirky self, it was like having him back again
jogging and prancing his way home to the yard with people commenting how well he looked. Tried a little walk trot canter in the school for a couple of minutes after a little hack. Has been very happy to have little canters out hacking in the feilds (starting to pull again)
. Looking so well, however not completly sound/right, a week or two ago he went on to one every other day which made no difference (no better, no worse) but has been overeaching really badly and destroyed his overreach boots he has on 24/7, got new ones now. The farrier came on tuesday (when i couldnt get to the yard) and when i went up wednesday he was very sore and lame again
his toes looked very short ( because farrier needs his heels to grow as there quite bad) i gave him 2 danilon wednesday and thursday, doesnt look any better :/ been advised by a knowledgable friend give him one a day until tuesday and trot him up again.
Anyway, i was wondering whether anyone knows how djd comes about as monty had x-rays 3 years ago, which he was said to have an extra bit on bone on both his hocks (calcium build up) that was just said to be 'just him'. I was wondering whether this was something that was missed, and how quickly DJD can occur as im not really convinced this is what he has tbh :/
Any help much apprieciated
