Yup Vets only though I think its available in Ireland, same for Dermobian - we got our from a friend out there, though this was about 5 yrs ago and not sure if its still readily available.
In all honesty if youve no experience of using it I would consult your vet as its pretty hefty strong stuff.
My god father trains on the flat in India we took some out for him when we went to visit as they cant get it out there!!

you can get it from building supply merchants.....they use it in paint stripping! i kid you not but it is very pure in that form and as someone has said you should take advice from someone who knows. i believe it is on the prohibitted list so if you are comprting becareful, i would leave at least a week clearance time if i were using it for sweats and the like.

Please be carefull if you do choose to use it. It is a very nasty chemical. In the lab we have to have loads of health and safety precautions to use it. We double glove etc. It can cause nasty blistering and burns the skin. Most vets don't stock it as they don't think it is good to use. They do use it widely in the US though.

IMO - i wouldnt put it anywhere near my horse.

I got some from my vet, Star was throwing a splint after booting herself in the leg. I was told to use it very sparingly, for a maximum of one week and NOT to rub it in, just use a toothbrush to smooth it on.

The splint went down and hasn't recurred. I don't know if that was the DMSO or the fact that it was a trauma though?

Jojo x
