Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give some advice, I've recently brought a Warmblood mare who is supposed to be by Weltmeyer however we have nothing about this on her passport (there is no breeding page, for her mother either) so I was just wondering if anyone could help, I looked into DNA testing but you need a sample of DNA or a Dna profile. I'm not too concerned about what her dam is currently but would love to know if her father is actually weltmeyer (as it must be possible to find/get his DNA).
So I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on who I could contact :)

Many thanks!

Yes that's the problem,i've messaged companies that do DNA testing and it doesn't cost too much, however I would need DNA from Weltmeyer and have no idea how I would get around this. I would be interested in breeding with her in the future but don't know if she is full hanoverian or a x now! ):
So currently doing lots of research!

Find out which stud book he is graded with, they should have a DNA sample from him, so use them to do the test

I had my mare DNA tested a few years back, the vet took a few strands of hair from her mane with follicles and it was sent to the Animal Health Trust for testing. The IDHS had the stallions dna on file,it was not expensive.
