Do any of you turn out in boots and if so, which boots and what is their purpose?

The reason I ask is that we've just taken in four new ponies with another arriving this weekend. My boy is particularly boisterous as are the new bunch.
He's been turned out in Roma brush boots a) to protect him should he get kicked and b) to support him when they're tearing around. I;m wondering whether there is a boot out there that will offer a bit more protection.

Penny for your thoughts please!

Che wears over reach boots all the time in the field 'cos hes clumsy and treads on his own feet. Although we have individual turnout if we move fields, any new horses arrive or anything is going on that is likely to send everybody scatty, I turn out in boots on all four legs for the first few days, again because he is clumsy and knocks into himself just being silly. I dont use field chaps as I find they rub and trap mud and I prefer not to boot at all on a regular basis, although I think if he was in a herd environent I probably would need to, fairly typical wimpy TB legs

When I got my gelding in summer he was booted up everyday, woof wear brushing boots on all four legs and over reach boots.
However he is now out with nothing, I got fed up of buying new boots as somehow throughout winter he kept loosing them all.
He is very playful out with 5 others and has been fine.

Did find that they made legs sweat in summer.

one wears just over reach boots as he likes to tear round his field and jump out, he does have boots all round when it's icy/very slippy
other pony always has overreach boots (has remedial shoes on and she overreaches badly) and front boots as she's got tendon problems and is just coming back into work so we don't want her buggering them up again!

Mine is turned out in brushing/overreach boots when a new horse is turned out. With 15 geldings hooning about someone is bound to get injured and he is clumsy with his feet!

Thankfully he is in with shetlands now so no boots needed, and fingers crossed he will stay with them for good now providing I am very very nice to YO!

My old girl has very arthritic knees which don't bend very much, so when there is a severe frost and the ground is hard I turn her out in her Westropp combined knee and brushing boots, just in case she does do a nose-dive.

I have acquired the most clumsy, ditsy horse ever so he is out in four boots at the mo until he settles in. He kicks the fences and is really playful.

I use WW brushing on the back and then the wrap round boots on the front that cover the leg and fetlock - front ones are great and stay on really well as loads of velcro! Sorry can't remember what the front ones are called!

3 of the liveries neds go out in OR boots as they like to tear round like loons and rip shoes off, my boss's stallion has neoprene brush boots all round and the posh neoprene/sheepskin OR boots in front as he's "worth a small fortune" - how the boots are going to stop him snapping a leg or jumping out Im not sure, but I suppose when he is hooning around at least he isnt taking chunks out of his legs.

Mine turned out in overreach boots on the front as has eggbar shoes and was forever pulling them off while he hoolies around the field. Have found that equillibrium hardy chaps over the top hold both the overreach boot and the shoe on. Fingers crossed have had no lost shoes since wearing these.
