Do any of you work in the horse industry, other than instructors/YO?

Just wondering whether many of you work in a horsey environment, such as feed, tack or equipment suppliers to the trade, or tack or feed merchants (to consumers)?

I have the opportunity to apply for a horse related job and wondered how life was with work and play along the same vein, plus family & friends making equal but different demands on your time! Does the fact that work is related to a keen interest/hobby make for a happier life?!

Bit long winded but i hope you see what I'm getting at?

I work on a rehab/pretraining yard which is nice varied work from riding/breaking to treating horses in the spa and using physio equipment etc. Not always great but can be rewarding.

I have had varied horse jobs,all riding,management related,found at the end of the day i didnt have the time or energy to concentrate on my own boy(he needed lots of time thow as i was breaking and schoolin him)!Chose a different career path and i now love spending time with my boy away from demanding humans,lol!!Just me thow,everybody diffrent,fortunately,lmao!!

I have been an equine veterinary nurse and a PA in the Racecourse industry.

I am a saddler, can be stressful when there is a deadline to get items finished, or the order book is empty, but it has a good side when customers are delighted with their new piece of bridlework, or when I can resurect their saddle that their horse has just trashed, I have also just started a horse and carriage for hire business.

Both me & my OH are saddlers with a shop/saddle fitting service & internet site. Mostly great, can be hell!!
