Do anybody else's gateways currently look like a giant muck heap?

First we had the great rain...which brought the mud earlier than usual...
Then we had the great snow...which froze the mud...
Then we had the great melt...which drowned all the fields....
Now we have the great mudbath...
I knew there was a reason shavings were so expensive. Being used as bedding is only half their purpose! The other half is attempting to dry up gateways so I don't loose my wellies in inches of mud whilst attempting to turn out my horse!

I have the gateways fenced off so the horses can't stand by them which makes them worse... so i just move the fencey thing to bring in and out....
And we rotate our fields so the gateways recover... but STILL the mud is terrible

guess you tipped the muck in the gateways? now you will loose your wellies in a foot of muck heap! and have to pay someone to scrape it all off come the spring? have fun and tie some plastic bags to your feet in case you loose your wellies!!!!!
 
Not just our gateways pretty much all the fields are mud baths, I have not seen it like this for years. Getting in is quite a job after washing everyones legs - we get a kind of conveyer belt going while queing for the hose! Role on spring and summer going to make the most of every second!!
 
yes! and the hardstanding in front of my stables just in case it freezes overnight cause it turns into an ice skating rink! i find it makes for less slippy footing. seems theres bedding and poo everywhere! roll on the drier weather x
 
Yep!

We have had 70cm of snow down for well over a month, to be polite lol the warm poo sinks down into the snow and the freezes and with no fresh snow the paddocks look so dirty, bright white snow and brown muck patches and hay everywhere yukky!

I cannot wait for the snow to melt!!! Come on spring...
