Do bigger Horse Lorrys sell for more than smaller ones?!

It's all to do with the licence you need to drive anything over 3.5t. Unless you are old like me (and passed yr test before June 1997) you can't drive anything over 3.5t without passing another very expensive test. Hence lots of people opt for the smaller lorries which they can drive on a normal car licence.

Im looking for a 3.5T but yet they are like goldust.. however it seems i can buy a 5T for £800!

How is that?!
these toy lorrys are all the rage at the moment seems people will pay anything to avoid taking another test to be able to drive a proper one !!!!!???...

I'm in the market for a second hand lorry myself. The bigger lorrys seem to be selling cheap because many people are down grading. The 3.5t ones are driveable without a special license, but it's not just that. It's also that they don't get plated, they get an ordinary MOT. They're fairly cheap to run. The problem is finding one that stays under weight enough to carry two reasonable sized horses. For whatever reason, everyone wants to fill the bloomin things with loads of living space, cookers and the lot - and then they're too heavy to carry anythign other than a pony or two! If I find one reasonably priced enough, I plan to strip out all the superfluous stuff from it so that I've got it lighter...

When LEZ came in the price of old big lorries plummeted as people had to get rid of them. Also with a 3.5 ton you have an mot whereas lorries are plated which costs more and the parts etc tend to be more expensive too. They drink more diesal as well.

Because even those of us who are old enough to drive up to 7.5t don't all have room to park a big box. I don't want the hassle of plating, and I only take one horse out. So, I don't need a big box!
Word of warning, however, although the small boxes seem dearer, there is ALOT of rubbish out there. Spend as much as you can possibly afford, to buy the best box you can get, or you could be in for a shed load of expense and trouble. Not all 3.5t boxes are safe and sound, even though they may cost more. Take a mechanice with you when viewing if you are not mechanically knowledgable. If poss, one that knows about horses too, so they can assess the safety of the box from a horse perspective too.
