Do/could steroids slow down gut movement?

I'll be watching this too - vet has just let me have some at a low dose to try and control my horse's itching. He mentioned a risk of laminitis, which can be due to gut disturbance in some cases, maybe no-one has made the connection?

When my big horse had steroid injections into his hocks, my vet always said he wouldn't do them more frequently than every 3-6 months because of the risk of laminitis.

Some info here regarding how steroids might induce laminitis http://towcester-vets.co.uk/alices-blog-laminitis-and-steroids-latest-information-about-the-risks/
