As you know my lot are usually fed raw, but I have put them back on Skinners Field and Trial Duck and Rice for the last 3 weeks as I was moving house and wanted to defrost & clean out their freezer. It has been absolutely horrendous!

All four dogs have lost condiition (not difficult for greyhounds I know) and are looking distinctly poor and ribby, I have gradually increased the amount of kibble to try and compensate for this but all that happens is they produce even more waste! From one nice firm poo a day they are now all producing at least 5 mr whppy consistency poos, it is really gross.

I got to the stage today where I couldn't stand it any longer, so I spent £10 at Tesco buying 2 days food for them and will go to the butchers on payday (Tuesday) to get enough raw to last me until MVM deliver on 27th!

Did they do ok on duck & rice before raw or was it totally new?

Can sympathize as OH bought a bag too as the shop didn't have salmon in stock & the dogs have been farting loads and poops been soft. It maybe that body adapts to cope with difference in diet over time, I guess if I ate more veg/fibre than normal initially it would probably cause upset so could be similar with cereals etc.

They were on Duck and Rice for years before I changed to raw, that is what I can't understand? They always looked really well on it too. I have started them back on raw today with a nice meal of chicken drumsticks/thighs to try and firm things up!

Sometimes it takes them a while to adjust, same as adjusting to raw can sometimes cause the runs. Try giving them a bit of yoghurt to help their digestive system adapt.

Mine do mahoosive double-bagger poos following a kibble meal despite both being kibble fed in the past. Skinners is the worst for poo volume of everything they've had recently - as it's not their staple food I just get whatever's on offer that's decent, Fish4Dogs and Arden Grange make for smaller poos but both produce more wind than Skinners so you can't win. :p

Once this last bag of Skinners is gone I might try Eden.

It'll take me two months (and a few hundred poo bags) to get through the half a bag I've got! :p

I bought them a tin each of Butchers tripe to have after their last race, thinking it would be nice to have something really palatable and digestible after hard work. Never again. Blurk!

My two greyhounds are on mostly raw (minced offal and minced meat leftovers that my butchers sell in frozen blocks) with a tiny amount of kibble. My very sensitive-stomached boy grey can basically only tolerate tesco's value plain biscuit mixer. Anything else sees him drop weight and get an iffy stomach faster than a flying greyhound! Girl grey is not so bad but nearly the same...if they're temporarily out of stock I do a bit of plain cooked pasta, which they can stomach for a while without too much disaster.
Greyhounds....*sigh* gotta love em...
