Hi peeps, recently bought a trailer but our baby boy (17hh) is not happy. Having spent some time introducing him to it and the first couple of outings going well, he suddenly decided he wasn't going in it. Last weekend was a nightmare and we spent an hour loading EACH way. Although he's fine once we set off. We think he'll be happier without the partition and are feeding him in it every day this week to try and cure his phobia. Whilst I know I can get a double breast bar, I haven't come across a double REAR bar which doesn't make sense because if you start to put the ramp up and he decides to back off, you'll get crushed. Do they exist?

my boy can be funnie to load and travel on his own fine with somthing else so when on his own he travel with no partition with a full size brest bar in frount and behind is that what you mean but when traveling on his own i tend to cross tie him i know a lot off horses that travel better without partition !!

if it is an ifor williams the frount breast bar and back are the same ??? confused hear

On an Ifor, one size full width breast bar fits both ends :).

I only have a front one as horse isn't one to back out once in. She does go in much happier without the partition.

We've recently bought one, but pretty sure it is exactly the same as a breast bar! Probably just a way of getting more money...

mine is a diffrent boy!! jumps on stands still now yay! falls over round round abouts but thonk that could be bad driving:S i paid 80 for 2 full lenth brest bars direct from ifor williams :) good luck plus the newew full brest bars have a slight agustment to fitt :)

you should use bar in front and behind horse- they have been known to lean back on trailer ramp which its not designed to take horses weight and could open then nothing to keep them in.

It is not a legal requirement, I checked before removing my partitions.

If a ramp is not designed to take a horses weight, then why are they designed to walk up them with their full weight on it ?
Should I be carrying my horse into the trailer :p:D?

no but there was an accident not that long ago where the ramp became opened and the horse had no breech bar wasn't there.

I would always want one.
