Do girths stretch?

I need to replace my atherstone waffle girth which is elasticated on one end, as it's rather tatty and is a bit too long for my new horse (as in, when I do it up tight for xc it's on the top holes). It's a good three years old and I'm not sure if I should replace with the same size, in the hope that this one has stretched and a new one in same size will fit, or to go down a size?

I'd probably go down a size. I've got a wintec elastic 1 had it for 4 months and it's really stretched.

I would say yes girths definately stretch as do stirrup leathers!!

I have an old Atherstone which measures 6" longer than the size stamped on it.
