Just pondering... the last 24 hours i have known that my leg is healing and healing well - I dont know why i just do....

So do you think our horses know the same when they are on box rest for leg injuries ?

Which is why they are as good as gold at first and then start to get a bit more energetic shall we say towards the end ?

Could well be the case.
My mare had to be on two months box rest, with walking out in hand allowed for initially 5 minutes, building up to half an hour.

For the first 6 weeks good as gold walking out nicely in a head collar., then all change. Bridle on even if coming out of her night stable to go into her day stable.
In-hand walkies became interesting, until I hit on the solution of long-reining her, so she thought she was off to do some work.
3 months field rest then we got the okay to come back into work.
She let me know she was happy to be working and felt fit by tanking off in the carriage. Not dangerous just strong.

Glad to hear your leg is on the mend.

Both horses I have owned who have done long spells of box rest, one lami, one ligament injury started to get naughty once they started to come sound. Especially my pony, whenever he is either feeling a bit ill or lame he turns all sweet and loving...then you know exactly when he is starting to feel Ok again because he starts chasing you round pulling faces behind your back and generally being all cheeky again :D
