Do I change Rug or not ??? ......

What has the temperature been over night recently?
Personally if it is a major drop then I would consider putting a fleece under the other rug or put on a slightly heavier rug. If the change isn't very dramatic and she has been coping fine in her LW up until now I would leave her be.
Is she going to be left in as little rugs as possible this winter or are you planning on giving her a small clip and rugging her up pretty well?
 
Overnight has been 10-13 degrees, So pretty major drop ?? .

I was thinking of sticking her fleece underneath as I do plan to winter her out as much as possible .

She does have her full neck medium turnout , but really don't want to put that on her yet . She does feel the cold quite abit as she has winter coat in full swing now . She is also an earlyish foal being born start of march .

As it has rained pretty much all day here I left a LW on my mare, she lives out 24/7 til I bring her in at the end of the month. Tonight I have put a MW with a full neck on her as it is still raining and gets quite chilly at night. Then again I am a big softie and was debating whether to bring her in now!!
 
I would probably put her fleece or a LW stable on and not her MW. If you are wintering her out as much as possible I would be tempted not to up her rugs too much until it is consistnaly cold.
Is it possible to put a neck on her LW at all?
 
Its been ok here all day,both mine are still naked,but in the last ten mins the heavens have opened,but its not cold,so they can stay as they are.

I put a rug on Jack the older one the other night when it dropped because he does feel the cold.
 
Check her to see if she is feeling cold, if she is, add/change, if not, then leaver her as she is. Horses can cope with the cold far better than the wet.

Well my post was pointless as I have had to bring her in ..... I am keeping another mare for a friend who is away on holiday, Before she left the mare had cut the inside of her hock, All seemed ok before she left and now of course ....Shes now come in hopping lame

....... So can't really leave madam out on her own .


So she is now standing in with a fleece on her .
