My friend has two charity horses, both been fine. They were old though. Many of the rideable ones seem to be v old as otherwise the owners would of sold them themselves. She recently got a charity 5 yr old cob who initially seemed ok , but had a back problem in the end. They did agree to take it back though. They checked her once a year and did come out to try to help with back problem one a couple of times. Don't be put off by your experience . There are alot of ordinary ponies for loan out there and some real bargains to buy at the moment.

I've got two from SWHP - one ridden, one companion. The ridden one came to me as a four year old. I was her first ridden home, although not her first loan home. I'm quite a nervous rider but she was fine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend SWHP.

I've got a pony from World Horse Welfare, he's a companion/pet but they do have ridden ponies/horses and are good at matching you to the right one for you xx
