i have noticed my saddle can sometimes move when cantering/jumping etc
(dont worry just been checked and fits fine!!!)

Java has low withers so this may also be the reason, but would a breastplate help keep it a little more secure?

and also which type to go for ------ i love the jeffries 5 point ones but im resisting from buying unless i actually need one! or more like the JW v one?

Where is it moving to? forwards, sideways, or back? If it's slipping forwards, a breastplate obviously won't help a lot. It'll help to stop it slipping back and might help to stop it slipping to the side a bit but probably not a lot, i have this problem with my pony, he's like a barrel and his saddle jump seems to move about all over the place :)

Personally I don't jump without a breastplate or breatsgirth! You just don't know what will happen and it just minimises risks (plus it gives you something to hold onto) :D

I have a very nice simple hunting breastplate for dressage as it gives you something to hold onto if needed but have a 5-point for jumping. I think a hunting would be fine for jumping aswell but I prefer to have that bit of elastication. I can't remeber what make my 5-point is but only cost £70 but is still good quality leather. :)

I think it slips more side to side, but would a breastplate not keep it more secure?

my horse is quite wimpy and keeping the saddle area padded and secure is a must!
