do i need clippers or will trimmers do??

this year have been hogging my boy because he has sweet itch and his mane is always a mess. last twice it has been done with clippers when he was clipped all over but during the summer just want to keep mane tidy, small mohichan at the minute. Can I use trimmers because don't really want to spend £100's on clippers, (don't clip him myself) but think I could manage just to hog mane. Thanks for any advise.

You probably could do it with trimmers if he has a fine mane but they wouldn't last very long. I know when I clip and hog my cob the clippers obviously find her white hair and the mane more difficult to clip. I wouldn't even attempt her mane with my trimmers.

Clippers don't need to cost 100's. I bought mine on ebay and there are some on there now for good prices - mine are Lister Star Clippers.

Personally i'd get clippers. Maybe some 2nd hand ones off ebay?

I have some liveryman trimmers and they won't touch my boys hogged mane. They are just nowhere near powerful enough so I would go for clippers.

I was able to do Mazzie's mane with my trimmers, but she was TB and I did it every week without fail.
