I bought a 7 year old mare a few years ago, she was barren as far as i no and i put my stallion to her and she foaled last year, vet checked her over straight after foaling, everything came out as it should of and no infections were caught as far as i no, also my stallion was swabbed this season and all came back clear so does she need swabbing and if so what is the likelyhood that she has anything?

We don't do our mares unless they go to an outside stallion, but if they don't catch first service then we do, as they may be carrying an infection which prevents conception.
As like us you had the stallion swabbed I reckon you should be ok.

I can understand anyone's reluctance to have it done unnecessarily. I mean the lab fee was only £19, all the rest was the vet, and it didn't take more than 5 minutes and wasn't a special call out but the yard's weekly visit. Why do they charge so much? It encourages people to cut corners
