Do I sell or not?

well, send her off to someone decent to get her broke and riding .... should take 8 to 10 weeks at average £180/week. then you ought to be able to sell her for whatever price you can get, still cheaper than breeding a foal. but even when broken and riding she will still be a tb, she will still crib, and will be green and need spoonfeeding for 6 to 12 months! bargain! now yes i agree you might well find this post rude!

If you think being rude is acceptable that's fine. It's nothing to do with me with how you portray yourself. Although you do make some valid points that I take on board.

nolton s s you sadly are like many in this economic market. it takes time and money to break and school your mare. i know you have her best interests at heart, but the next person may not. you could invest money in breaking her which you sadly wont redeem, as your blank canvas has her age against her, her breeding against her (tho i do like a tb) and she has a vice/habit which sadly most dont want! i dont think i have been rude in my posts, but blunt as to the suitability and price for moving her on which i think you took offence to. there are far worse fates than to be pts in a home that loves this horse, failing that keep her for the next 20 odd yrs then at least you know you love her and care for her, but again this all takes time and money to keep them right. i think you might be stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Money is not a problem, looseing money on her is not ideal! But if that's what it takes for her to find a home that's fine. The issue is space. We can't buy any more land around our stables, which limits the amount of horses we can have. I don't think I could justify putting her to sleep, when I have a stable there for her. If push comes to shove she will stay, i would not sell a horse unless it has a home for life. All horses I've previously sold are still with their new owners, and staying there. I find its a difficult situation, I don't know what to do with the best. I did find them a bit rude, but then again I'm quite sensitive.

NSS posted looking for friendly advice ...not the ramblings of bitter posters who have previously admitted they have had to deal with negative responses to their own situation.
You for one should now how it feels ofcourseyoucan

Just as a flyer, work out how much you can afford and advertise her as a companion .... but say you will be responsible for regular trims and teeth, or similar. That way she might be attractive to someone? Well, if you don't try you will never know?

Regarding OfCourseYouCan, don't get hung up on whether she is good or bad. The good thing about this forum is that lots of people give you advice. The trick is to sort out what information is relavent to you rather than let your/their ego become an issue!!

I'm sorry you're in this predicament.:(
But I'm so glad you're being careful where she goes, granted it's not going to be easy, but will be worth it, try and get her backed (she may well be easy to back) fingers crossed anyway., and then loan her out wtvb. Good luck xx

Thank you troyseph. I couldn't just sell her on without a care, because I know where she would end up, and that's not what I want for her. I'd rather a field ornament than know I've sold her on to god knows what. She may find a happy home, but she may not. Shes not going anywhere at the moment, so maybe I can fit her in between my boy when I finish uni. Thanks again, to you too as well canteron and mad cat lady. I'll try my best for her, that's all I can do! If not it looks like she will carry on filling my stable!

That's ok, it's refreshing to see people who care about their horses that much, so many people don't give a toss where their horse goes, keep us updated x
