I dont know if anyone of you remember me posting about a highland youngster in autumn last year? Well in a weird twist of fate he didnt actually sell and now my friend needs him to go to a good home ASAP and has offered him to me again. I'm due a small and completely unexpected windfall which would just about cover his purchase price, and I'm also being promoted early next year, the pay rise will cover his costs and a bit over, which all seems a very spooky coincidence. After all the drama with my eyes and general health, everything is settled and short to medium prognosis is good. Long term is terrible, so it leaves me feeling very much like I need to do things now while I still can.

I've been half heartedly looking for a freebie or cheap project, but I've never been serious enough about any of the ones I've seen to actually do anything about it. This one, I really do like. Hes just a quality pony. I cant seem to make my mind up one way or another though.

I miss having a baby pony about, but I'm not sure I miss it enough to justify the time and expense of another one. It would be handy to have two together as I'm on a DIY livery yard and horses come and go at different times and it always worries me that Bobs will be left out on her own, but she doesnt really mind anyway, so its not an issue really.

I think the problem is, I dont need another one, but I'd like one, and I'm not sure liking one is enough to justify it!

I know him in RL, had Reg on that yard over the summer before I returned to Germany and he headed to Shuttleworth. Mum still has her 2 youngsters there

Really nice little pony, very friendly but can be a bit in your face at times. Loves a good scratch and would always investigate when I was poo picking

ETA pm if there's anything else you want to ask, I can try and answer! Me and my sister spent a fair bit of time with him for a while when he spent time stabled

Hes my friends, so while I've never actually met him, I know his mum and his grandmother and have heard all about him from conception to now, in fact, I was involved in choosing which stallion to cover the mare with, so I've no qualms about him. Its just whether I want 2 or not thats the issue

But I'm thinking instead of bringing him to the yard, I can pack him off on youngstock livery reasonably local to me, visit when it suits and fetch him back for the summer, then send him back off in the winter again and repeat until hes 4, Saves me some of the hard slog but gives me time with him in the summer. I need to have a proper think about the options and it might make it all clearer in my mind.

Hes coming 2 now twiggy.

Honestly, LW - what a very silly question to ask;) The heavens are clearly aligned and all the stars shining brightly (seasonal ref!) - not only shining but shouting at you to go get him. Seriously, you have explained just how life has settled down for you for a while since thinking you would have to sell Bobby and, if the longer-term future might not be so great, all the more reason to seize life by the throat now. You have clearly got a good plan for his immediate future in place and, if you are happy with the finances, what is to stop you? Others have pointed out his sellability (is that a word?) if that has to happen so all bases seem to have been covered. You will give him a good home and, more importantly, a very good start in life.
Go girl!! What a start to 2020!!!
