As title really - due to some crappy circumstances, I'm having to keep my horse at home on her own for a bit :-(

Do many of you out there keep your horses on their own and if so any advise/help in keeping them interested and happy (I do realise they are herd creatures and so this is un-natural but circumstances dictate this situation for a while).

Thanks :-)

My Mum has kept out first homebred mare on her own on and off throughout her life. She does have sheep next door mind and is literally kept outside the kitchen window (often lets herself out and wanders around the patio as well!!)

Tbh as the mare's got older she has a bit of a hormonal problem in the summer and mounts other horse, male or female. She is much more placid and happy on her own and is rather like a big dog.

I know they are naturally herd animals, but I can honestly say this mare has been happier throughout her whole life when she is on her own. :)
