A strange heading...but had to drive down a very slippery hill yesterday in OH's van whilst he was following in horse box. Now have driven up and down this hill in all conditions for about 6 years...yesterday petrified! I remember a few years ago making it up the hill in an old clio when everyone else parked at the bottom....was it just because it was someone else's van or am I just getting more incompetent as the years go by! I do wonder if it is because in the past I had to do it, whereas now I can just look pathetic and OH takes over.

i'm the same. i used to be brave, capable and unstoppable. now i'm a wuss.

with me, i think it's to do with growing up/old. i'm more aware of danger... and i also have an OH to rely on for the hard things...

for example... last night i was feeding/watering the horses... and the tap was frozen. so, i ask my OH to do it, because i genuinely couldn't think of how to do it... yet, i spent many years and many winters coping quite well without him...

it will probably be that the van had front wheel drive and the amount of torque from the engine is increased as it is right over the front wheels and you are very very aware that it is not your car!!

I have had this feeling for the last 4 days as I am currently in my dads transit van while my disco is in for surgery (failed MOT!) and I am terrified that I will dink it.

I show dogs and drive thousands of miles every year. i'm usually confident and happy but recently I borrowed my husband's new volvo for a two-hour journey. I was terrified i'd bump it and by the time I returned home the stress had exhausted me.

It's probably because it wasn't yours.

I was super happy with my shogun & just fine in my cleo last winter however driving the 'good' car this year in the ice was scary as it's both mine & oh's and it's more valuable than either of the last two so I was worried about dinging it.

Sadly and typically though, I have managed to nearly rip the bloody door off at the weekend.

I'm not enjoying driving the forklift over frozen concrete today, unloading pallets of feed. Everyone in standing way back from me, and I've been getting wheel spin - not funny!

I also didn't like sliding down a hill this morning in the Defender - but I would never had liked that, whatever age I was, and whether I was single or not!
