That can do more than hack?
& if so, where do you find them??! Have looked and LOOKED online and they are either loaned already or light hack only.
I'm not one of those annoying people that wants a 4* eventer at no cost, just something that could pop a x pole, or do a prelim test without falling over/going lame/bronking me off/etc...
Now starlas looking at a couple of years off i weeeeeeeeeeeeeaally want something to ride!
Anyone out there had good experiences with certain websites etc?

Tarr :D

mine's out on loan and he's a great allrounder. However I guess with horses like that they are harder to find on loan as they are either worth a bit of money so get sold, or the owner doesnt want to loan them out. ones with a few probs which maybe are no longer suitable for the owner yet they dont want to part with - they are more commonly available i guess??!! They are around but will just be harder to find!! Have you tried looking round your local tackshops, horsequest horsemart preloved equineadverts horsehunter etc etc, or place a few wanted ads yourself? Good luck!!

i have put my older horse on loan who is eventing at BE100, dressage to elementary and BSJA's to 1.10m.
he is super bombproof to hack, lovely to deal with in everyway, straightforward and bold to jump, etc.
(it is the grey horse in my signature below)

i think the issue you will find is that the good horses are likely to be snapped up via word of mouth and aren't even advertised- i had 6 or 7 people on the phone straight away as soon as the feelers were put out.

Yes, I've had my ex-eventer out on loan for the past 5 years - he is now back with me for retirement. I have another one 11yo (fab hack, dressage, sj) who I would dearly love to find a loaner for, but they would need to be a competent, confident, understanding rider as he can lack confidence himself sometimes - trying to find someone who is not a complete novice to loan him to is proving a bit difficult!:)

Wanted ads, now there's an idea. I think ive pretty much tried every website under the sun, and i'm keeping an eye on the board in the nearby tackshops.
I'm blatantly going to end up buying another one, Which i reallyyyyy didnt want to let myself do!
I need to keep my sensible head on though, wedding in a year = OH will kill me if I spend hiddeous amounts of money on another equine pal ;)

Yeah, there's quite a few out there just have to look in the right places! My mare's out on loan as she's my perfect ned ever and was my first one and did all the work with myself...so meant too much to me to sell to anyone to get past on or anything! She does everything, got the girl competing and jumping 3'6+ etc and out winning ODE's and PC bless her! :D Perfect horse, perfect home :)

Yeah, I think you've hit the nail on the head there...

There are ones out there , my friend is starting to advertise her horse a 16hh friesian mare ,can move and can be competed but all costs are loaners reasonability so just keep looking there out there

Might be cheaper in the long run lol:D;)

Lol, Almost definately I would guess!
The trouble is, if I buy one...I'm going to want to find something perfect, that i can hunt, compete etc etc, which could end up being very expensive. Where as if I loan, and it doesnt jump but does a nice dressage test, or vice versa, or has the odd 'quirk' etc...It wont matter as much to me, Because at least I'll have something to ride and wont be bankrupt!

Does that sound awful?

I loan my 16HH ID 2 days a week and set no limits on what the lady (who is lovely) does with him as long as he is well looked after and they have fun together!!

Its a shame people set limits, not everyone wants to bomb around like a nut case!!!

Hope you find a horse soon ;-)

Nope, sounds quite sensible to me:) My ideal loaner is someone who is going to enjoy the horse for what it is, cos they are more likely to look after him then. You are right, if you are buying you look for something a bit more perfect (and pay the price lol:D)

If you took mine hunting he would probably wet himself:rolleyes::o

I have the oppostie problem, i have one mare that i would happily loan out, but everyone seems to be looking for novice rides to just hack out. She's very green, but honest, can jump, is safe, easy, fun etc. And i'm quite happy for someone to do anything with her once it was done sensibly and she was looked after!

Why are all you people in Ireland!!! :(

I found my last loanee by putting an advert up in my local tack shop. Have you tried that? Or put a wanted advert up on websites. Hopefully that why, if you put on there what you want to do, then you will only get people who have horses capable of it, contacting you.

Have you tried stabletalk.co.uk?

I advertised mine on loan but in the end he has gone to a home where I replied to a wanted add. She has him on LWTB as she wanted to make sure he was "the one" and I wanted to make sure he was happy. I do believe the wanted adds work.

My daughters got a wonderful dressage horse by donnerschwee with fabulous paces and BD points on loan with a view to buy eventually, we are hoping to buy him soon but his owner would have been happy to have us loan him for a good couple of years atleast.

Best thing to do is advertise everywhere and let all your friends know, we heard of him through word of mouth and although he lacked condition and needed bringing back into work he has been no trouble at all, is a superstar in every way and my daughter has fallen head over heels in love with him.

If find the most effective way of getting anything in the horsey world - grazing, loans, hay etc is still a note up in tack shops. Most of us go in for "something" but always have a browse - im not looking for anything but im always drawn to the notice board...just incase lol

I've got a mare out on loan, a super all rounder, 100% in all ways, she's only been out on loan a month. When I put the ad up I was literally inundated with enquiries and the first people that saw her wanted her. She is on loan simply because I am too soft and too attached to her to actually sell her but I can't cope as I've got 2 other horses and not enough time or grazing for 3. There are lots of people out there like me who do loan out really super horses, but there are even more people out there looking for them. My best bit of advice would be to look everywhere (even places like Friday Ad and Pre-loved - there's lots on there weirdly, Preloved is where the family that have my mare came from!), put wanted ads up (I did look through lots of wanted ads before I advertised myself as I was hoping to find someone that way but couldn't) and also, be really snappy when you see one you like as they go quickly!
Good luck! Hope you find something.
