Just asking as I can't seem to find anyone, have given up now... It needed to be someone over 18 in case they were there alone and all i got were young people or people who said they could ride and couldnt.....

So, Do many people still do the share thing with horses ??

Yes, I had about 30 calls for my horse and choose 2 that are perfect to share to week between them.

Hope you find someone soon, I got the best response from Preloved.

I did share a lovely (well, okay, EVIL!) pony a year or two ago, and was pretty much left to it, just with the 9yo rider.

 I was 14!

My dad was hiding in the car reading.

I would love to share again, but only if it was at my current yard.

Yes lots of people are looking for shares or half loans, but it depends a bit on what you are offering and where you are as to how easy sharers are to find.

I wouldn't discount a 16-18 year old, there are a fair few at our yard who a super riders, very sensible and have supportive parents. Over 16 they should be fine unsupervised, under 16 I'd only consider them if they had supportive AND horsey parents who could accompany them.

The best places to advertise in your area will depend upon where you are but try your local university, they might have lots of students with time on their hands that have given up horses to go to uni. Try local riding schools for people who have had lots of lessons and want to broaden their experience, best to have a word with the owner/manager and ask him or her to put word out with suitable people.

Think about who might want a share, you are generally looking for people who either don't have the time or the money for a horse full time.

Try advertising in the post office/supermarket rather than tack shops as people without their own horse don't go to tack shops that often.

Post your rough location on this thread, someone on here might know of someone suitable!

Yes people still do it. I have a sharer (a mum) for one of my horses. Her daughter has a pony of her own that she kept at the same yard so she knew my horse beforehand and had also ridden him.

I know other owners who have older teenagers (ie 17, 18) sharing with them.
