As in a 5yo welsh d - been backed a year, lightly schooled and hacked out alone/in company?

I understand people wouldn't want to perhaps put in the hard work and then have to give them back after a short period of time - but what about a long term loan of say, a few years?

There were lots of youngsters for loan when I was looking. I was always a bit put off that you would put the time and effort in to one and then when its going nicely and doing well the owner would want it back as theres no gaurantee that the owner will let you keep it even if they say they will. I ended up buying for that reason.

If I was getting a horse I couldn't otherwise afford & I could do the things I wanted with it, eg a top sports horse I could compete at lower levels. Suppose if its a top show prospect someone more into that than me might for the opportunity. But on the whole, no, I'd rather buy a cheap youngster & sell on after a few years than do it free for someone else.

My four year old cob is going up for loan.. dont expect anyone to put in the work and give her back, it will be a loan for as long as they want. The aim being to find someone who does want a horse longterm.

This is more along the lines i was thinking really.

Yes but only if written in that they had the option to buy at a pre-set price at the end of ** months/years.

Think that's fairer on both sides and from the start it is clear on the intentions
