Mum sold an old jumping saddle on there successfully. We thought we would only get £40 for it, but the person who ended up buying it paid £100 which was pretty good going as it was an old saddle & we had tried to sell it at an equine boot fair for £40 with no success. However, she also tried to sell her Caymar GP saddle which was only a year old and in top condition - no interest at all. I think that the starting bid of £300 put people off, but it cost her £700 so were aiming to sell at a decent price.

Ive just sold 3 on ebay, the first time we put a reserve on one and it didn't sell, so we put it on again with another 2 and this time we put them all on with a higher starting price but no reserve and they all sold, it was very easy
they were, one pony saddle company gp saddle, one 17.5 working hunter saddle company saddle and a wintec dressage saddle.

Sold my frank baines ,it cost me £750 and sold for about £200, it had only been used for a year.
Tried to sell my dressage saddle which is comfy and very good condition but too narrow for my med/wide horse but it never reached reserve of £150
So you don't get much for them in my experience

The saddles that can be altered to fit seem to sell reasonably well but other than that unless they are really cheap they dont seem to sell. However you might get lucky and have someone close by who is looking but then you may have to take saddle over for them to try.

If its a well known make that people are particularly looking for then it might do ok but really its so luck of the draw.

For example Albion ultimas do well as do some wows. I think treeless do quite well as they will fit any horse. Stubbens can also do well.

That is what i was thinking NMM.Is it worth putting a reserve on it or let it go for what ever the top bidder bids.I dont want to "give" it away but not wanting silly money either!.

The trouble with having a lesser known make is people dont want to risk spending a lot of money on something that they dont know will fit.

Yes i did a little bit of research and even rung the saddlers.I spoke to the son and he told me roughly what my saddle would be worth. They still are in essex but moved premises. The father and founder of the saddlery has since retired and the son has taken over!.

In my experience they sell best when given to a saddler to sell. It can take a long time though for them to find the right client and they do take a cut. So unless you are desperate for the money I'd avoid ebay as a saddle is a tricky thing to buy off there as it's likely not to fit.

I've sold 3 saddles on there for over £1000 - 2 Devoucoux and one Albion SLK. All really lovely saddles, and known makes - hence the good prices. Also, I've got a rating of 600 positive feedback, no negative - so sure that helps

I also sold a treeless saddle on there for a really good price to a woman in Austria - apparently they are very difficult to get hold of there. But does depend a lot on the make I think - and your reputation if you are expecting a lot of money.

Thats the problem. My saddle has been over at a local tack shop for over a year. The tack shop owner has over 100 saddles. When i went to pick the saddle up it was ingrained with grime,A largish stratch on the saddle flap and a dent on the seat. And of course the girth straps are now marked by girth buckles. And it was the bottom saddle of eight on a saddle rack.It was a brand new saddle when i took it to her!.That is why i removed it!.

I've bought enough of there!! I have bought 3 stubbens and a prestige off ebay, the stubbens I knew where going to fit as the tree size was what I needed. I looked on Ebay as I wanted as specialist jumping saddle with big blocks which tack shops just don't get in. The most expensive saddle I've bought is £440. I think the names sell well.

I bought an Ideal Saddle on ebay for £150 and it didnt fit my horse. I put it back on with better pics and description and go almost £300 for it, lady came to pick it up and was made up.

I was worth more but I was happy as i got almost double what I paid for it

If the saddle is a quality and well known make then yes. I listed a Passier Jumping saddle and got £320 for it, which was what I had paid from out local saddler a few months before (young horse).
I've just bought an Ideal show saddle for £82 off ebay today because it was imacculate and if it doesn't fit big lad I'll be able to resell it for a profit! If it had gone for more money I wouldn't have risked it though, as I'm not certain it will fit.

I've sold a few via ebay successfully and need to list my Wintec as I bought a Saddle Co one this weekend...

Put loads of pics and measurements up and a good discription, this really seems to help with selling saddles.
