Do some dogs prefer to be on their own ?

We have 2 female jack Russell's. One is 8 ,very calm and easy , the other is 2 and has always been sensitive and anxious and has become grumpy esp since her first season. This is normally directed at our other dog. She is really bright,has lots of exercise,attends dog training and is being spayed but we are thinking they would probably both be happier living alone. Any thoughts or advice.

The quick answer is yes, some dogs, like some people and some horses, prefer to be on their own.

Yep. Also, not all dogs get on with every other dog - they might get on much better with some dogs than they do with others. Again, just like people.

I have 4 and 3 join us in the lounge of an evening and one stays in his bed. He does sometimes join us but never for longer than an hour or so...
