two of my daughters ride ,one is about to join the BSJA (with her horse ) and the other is just learning how to jump.she could probably manage to get round a 2ft course comfortably on a pony that knew what it was doing, and the highest she has jumped is 2ft 7. our current pony is a bit of a speed demon/do what course i want to do type if you dont know what you are doing! she is going on loan to a friend and i need to find a new pony that will teach/give my daughter the confidence to jump and the older one wants said pony to be capable of doing BSJA so she can do a couple of years in juniors while the younger one gets to that level. SO are there ponies capable of taking a novice round a 2ft course and also doing a BSJA course? if not ill have to buy 2 which i dont really want to be doing for obvious reasons!

I have one of these ponies. She is an absolute gem. She will do all the exciting things my daughter wants to do - jumps, event, dressage etc and then will pop round an mini jumping class with my very nervous 10 year boy who had the pony from hell a while back and lost all confidence.

We found this pony by accident- good luck with your search

We have one too. Full up 148cm. Hunts in a snaffle, events at 3'7". SJ at 1.15, hacks alone and is the kindest pony I have ever dealt with. Put a smallish on her and she will pop around 2'6" (have never asked her to do much smaller but she would as she only jumps as high as she needs to). She only hots up when the rider does too!.

You saw her Megotto at Ickworth PC Area where she jumped double clear in the Intermediate. She is not for sale although I have a long list of people who keep asking me!

This is her at Little Downham PN http://www.situpandkick.co.uk/galleriesv...PM%20-%202%20PM

and SJ http://www.situpandkick.co.uk/galleriesv...PM%20-%201%20PM on a bit of a flyer at that one!

Yes! They definitely exist. We had one not long ago..

im megottos daughter and i have just looked on the BSJA website. as i am joining as a junior associate member i can jump ponies and/or horses. i think this means at the same time, not 100% sure though

As a Junior Associate you can jump ponies in junior classes and horses in senior classes, and you can do this at the same time

Yes there are but they will cost a packet so you might be better to be little more realistic in your search, and perhaps resign yourself to buying two or tell older daughter to look for catch rides (if there any in your area) quite often people have ponies that need BSja mileage and no riders for them! Its worth a try. Good Luck

Yes Gold dust indeed, mine old 148Ja Won The foxhunter final a while back and Jumped all the Major finals - just sold to a ten year old who wins every 2ft to 2'6 class there is!! He was very special!!

they do exist, we had one for my sister has her 1st pony, she didn't realise how lucky she was until we sold her! took my sister from novice teams at Pony Club to BSJA Newcomers, winning almost £200, going to Pony Club Novice champs and doing ODE's. She was a cracker, a very sad sale but to a nice family whose daughter had little confidence in jumping. She was a bargain buy as well

definetly exist was lucky to have two! First was a 14h2 who I jumped JA classes on (ok well up to 1m15s anyway as was Jersey but did do puissances up to 1m50!!!), although he is still more than capable of jumping BSJA (and may infact do so again next year) he has spent the last few years teaching total novices. And when I was still riding him he would occasionally do the odd thing with various riders including doing a dressage test with my mum (who hadn't done one for about 15 years), XC with a novice, and small SJ classes.

The second was my mum's 13h3 who I stole when I became old enough to hold him. With me he also went Jersey JA jumping up to 1m30 in jump offs but generally 1m-1m10s. with me he was a speed demon but put a novice on board and he would instantly change to a saint on legs. He has also spent the last few years teaching novices. Always makes me laugh if you have two riders swapping over on him during a ride and how he will instantly just change his manners and way of going according to who is onboard.

Because they are such saints and I owe them the world for what they taught me neither have or will be sold. We had queues of people for both especially for my 14h2 but were always very picky and generally picked kids who couldn't own their own and really wanted the chance to improve from novices.

Yes, my daugther has one. 14.2h, huge jump on him and quick, does dressage, SJ, XC, HT, the lot. 15 year old daugther rides him and races him too then 11 yr old disabled sister gets on and he s a complete poppet for her and never gets fizzy or goes too fast for her to manage. Like others have said, you would pay a premium. How about buying the JA pony and loaning a 'safer' confidence giver for your other daughter until she is more ready for steering at high speed!

A pony at my yard is 11.2hh and can jump 3ft 6, but just as happily go round a small course with a novice on

Pickle isnt a pony but he is like that, he has taught 3 people to jump (from scratch!) but I also have fun on him jumping higher courses
