I have been told that if a horse eats thistles they will have paralysis of the mouth. Has anyone else heard this?

I know someone who was convinced that if a horse swam he would drown unless a cork was inserted under his tail!!!!!!!!!

As far as I know horses have been swimming and eating thistles without drowning or paralysing their mouth. Mairi.

Yeah i am glad to hear that you all think it is not possible!!! I was pretty certain that it was not realistic, but someone who thinks they know everything about horses , (they are a few about) especially when they know I am owning my first horse. They insist on telling you how you should be looking after your horse. Is it just me or do others suffer this syndrome?
