do u vaccinate against herpes?

Herpes has been diagnosed in our area so it something several friends have looked into. So far all have reached the same conclusion advised by vets that its not really worth found. One vet explained that if the average horse in livery for example was vaccinated but others at the yard weren't and they became effected that the illness could over ride the vaccine? Not sure if this is 100% accurate as its second hand information though sorry
