Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum. I own a beautiful 22yr old Welsh Section D who is unfortunately on box rest at the mo due to tendon injury

The thing is the vet who has been tending to her has basically been stalked by me with every question imaginable. He has been so patient with all my call's and questions. He is due to come out again tomorrow to check on her progress was just wondering are they allowed to except gifts ie box of choc's as a thank you for putting up with being stalked by a anxious owner.

Thanks everyone, I will get him some choc's. I was going to get him flowers ( I am florist) for him to take home to his other half but thought he might not appreciate them as much as I do.

You know, that is so nice! I gave the vet who tried so hard to save my mare a bunch of flowers as she was as upset as I was, but I really hadnt thought of giving my current vet anything for all he has done for Melody until I read this.
Im sure your vet would be chuffed to bits to get a box of choccys!!

My vets thank you pressie was the £11k bill I paid. Thats more than enough! He should have bought me a thank you gift!!!

Yes, I load my vets with enough chocolate to raise the BMI of a small country and always give the one of my mum's home made christmas cakes at crimbo. They love it and, unsurprisingly, are quick to phone me back whenever I have a query.
It also probably helps that my animals are reasonably well-behaved and have not mauled / trampled any of them (yet).

Yes they love pressies! After my old boy passed away last year I gave him a bottle and a card just thanking him for 18 years wonderful service he had given him over the previous 18 years. He had vetted him for me and treated him from then on. He wasn't even the vet that came on the final visit, so she got a bottle and card too.

When I next saw my vet he got quite a lumpy throat while thanking me, saying that they normally just get complaints and grumbles so it was a lovely suprise for him.

Im sure your vet would be more then happy to accept a small gift as a thank you.

On a personal note it is great to hear that you have a great vet, since my old vet stopped treating farm aminals/horses (who I trusted implicitly) I have recently found myself at the mercy of a vet I dont trust, dont like and has an attitude that stinks, all opinions I gleaned from just 1 visit!! He is patronising, arrogant and cocky individual and I wouldnt now trust him with a wild rat!

I have on speaking to others, been told several 'mishaps', 'deaths' and problems including that my first impression is not a mistaken one. Actually one person said 'OMG - Him, get your horses away from him ASAP'

I am currently seeking a new vet within my area! Wish me luck!! xxx

As a vet student I really hope that I do a good enough job that owners would want to do this for me as it would just feel like you are doing a good job and it is appreciated (which is obv nice!

Alot of vets do feel that they just get complained at etc so if you feel they are doing a good job and you are happy with them then I am sure they will be delighted that you express this! Esp with a gift!!

(as choccy makes the world go round and all that!

Thanks for the reply's. The vet in question has had a lot to put up with from me I feel as I am such a worrier and just want my little girl to get better

I just want to let him know I appreciate him listening to my concerns with out making me feel like an incapable owner. So a box of choc's it is.
