Just curious as the one I had had on Grace all winter has rubbed away some of her mane...

How can I stop this from happening?

Had mine in a weatherbeeta landa combo all winter and a Taka combo in really bad weather and they didnt rub her mane at all.
I did get carried away with a thinning rake and was going to tell everyone who saw the mess that it was the rugs

My mare's full neck weatherbeeta hasn't rubbed her mane at all - & I wish it would cos it's v thick & greasy & it destroys my solo comb when I try to do something with it.

However, Cat's FAL used to destroy the bottom 2/3 of his mane every year, ie totally bald, even with a snuggys hood under it. So only 5 plaits for dr from winter til early summer...

His turnout didn't but his indoor one started to so I resorted to a duvet(sp) instead

I have an orican combo and it rubbed about 4 inches of mane away in front of the withers on both my horses. One is a cob the other arabx. Lovely rug though.

I think it depends on the horse rather than the rug!> i use weatherbeeta on both of mine and one gets a rubbed mane whilst the other doesnt.

Have the Arion on all of mine and just the narrow TB had her mane rubbed off, but it growing back (slowly), but do like the rugs...... Somebody suggested stitching some silk material into the hood, but never got round to trying that, might do it this winter and see what happens.........

My landa combo has rubbed some of my boy's mane away but the orican combo hasn't. Horseware seem to fit him better. He is warmbloodxcob.

Yes, I tried putting an anti rub hood on under it but it still rubbed. I'm not going to use neck rugs again.

Yes , not yet found a full neck rug that doesn't rub - only way round it is a neck cover attachment style rug rather than full neck with my lad
