As above..

Do you believe in fate - talking in terms of horses here. As in - it was fate that you and your horse met etc?

All opinions please!

Just wondered because I was thinking about it the other day and thought it was an odd thought to think that when the horse you currently own was born you would one day own it/meet it/ride it etc - or is that just me? :D

Maybe not that far but i think its fate that i found him and was able to buy him

He was advertised in a number of places but i saw his add when looking for a saddle for a friend. No picture very breif description. He sounded nice and the right price so gave them a ring, heard more about him ect. I went to see him a few days after and really liked him, but had to go on holliday for 2 weeks the day after so couldnt make a decision. Said to myself that if he was still there when i got back then i would buy him and he was and i did =D =D =D =D

Turns out he was actually quite a little monkey and if i hadnt had him and wanted to make him right he would have been passed all over the place and probably pts by now.
Thats why i think it was fate for him and me to meet =D =D

TOTALLY AGREE
a friend who I hadn't heard from for long time rung me out off the blue to tell me about a horse going to the slaughter yard as he was a nightmare, to cut a long story short he got dropped off at my yard the next day. I wasn't looking for another horse and wondered what I was doing but we hit it off and I love him so much he's a star. We were ment to meet that's for sure.

There's no way I'd have even known about mine if:
I hadn't gone out with my ex.
I hadn't then met his brothers GF, who is now one of my best mates who my horse used to belong to.
If I hadn't moved.
If I hadn't sold my other pony/loaned my other one out and realised I'd outgrown riding ponies, leaving me horseless.
If I hadn't have gone to college and met my ex there, causing all the knock-on effects and me getting my horse.

With Hairy, it was just very random and we both found each other rather than one more than the other!

So yes and no. I beleive more in coincidence, circumstance and 'what will be is made by what you make of it' kind of attitude probably...whether you call that fate or not :)

Yep....our eyes met over the stable door......I sank into his brown pools of eyes......I touched his face. It was soft to the touch, and as I said hello he farted loudly.....I knew we were meant to be together......

Definatly. I'm a great believer in fate and I think that's why I'm so chilled out about things!

I remember the first time I met my horse ... about 3 years before I had him and I was only about 15 and I stared at him over the fence and said to myself that I was going to have a horse like him one day. Never ever would I have imagined I would have him!!

I have him because he kept bucking people off and my auntie just didn't have time to ride him as much as he needed. She had mentioned me having him before but I knew I couldn't afford him alone. Fate came along in the shape of one of my best mates at uni who told me she had always wanted a big coloured ... and along came Jacob :)

I also met my loan horse by fate. My dad parked his car at the back of her owners stables and asked if he would be in the way. The lady said possibly as she had to bring the horses in, and Dad said it was a shame I wasn't there as I had recently lost my job etc when the riding stables shut down. Turned out she needed somebody to exercise her mare so I went for a trial ... and here we are 5 years later :)

I first saw Meg when she was a few hours old. She was bred for the breeders daughter to do dressage. I thought I didn't stand a chance in getting her, but it didn't stop me dreaming and writing down a list of horses who I'd have on 'my' yard - meg being one of them! (still have the list somewhere lol).
It was fate in my opinion as the daughter was too nervous to take on a strong willed baby horse. I just happened to be lucky, I got first refusal. The rest is history.

Absolute fate with Melly - we took on grazing for the sheep opposite her field, she was neglected and unhappy and I began going to say hello when I looked the sheep. I had lost my big coloured mare 6 years previously, and my little man 2 years...I never wanted another horse, but mentioned to Dad that Mels had something about her....he found out who owned her and got her on loan for me...then when they decided to sell and she decked everyone who tried her, they said she would go for meat, so I bought her....I paid the money for her on the 6th anniversary of my mares death.
My little one, Seren has been scanned in foal on Thurs (1st July), which is the 4th anniversary of my little mans death.
I firmly believe that Daizy wanted me to have Melly, and that Sunny lead me to Seren...they are like 2 peas in a pod temp wise!x

Totally. I first met my horse 7 years ago when Mini TX badgered me to have riding lessons. I had been wanting to ride again after a 20 or so year break and I remember this very handsome, if dusty and scruffy head with a mohican poking over a stable door. I ended up booking lessons and was given him to ride. It was love at first sight and I bought him 8 months later. We've had our up and downs, but he and I are so right for each other and he has a home for life.

Hell yes...

I went to see Genie slightly half-heartedly, but fell in love with her, then the day before her vetting Mazzie was killed in the trailer accident. I almost didn't go ahead but my instructor told me to. Genie has been everything I've wanted/needed and more besides, and she helped me move on in a very tricky time.

YES - in all of life, not just horses:)

I do think it was fate that the horse I looked at to loan was too green, as I would have been bankrupted by him after a couple of things changed and would have had to give him back, which would have been heartbreaking.

yep met mine when visiting someone he did quite a lot to catch my attention kicking door being anxious in the stable when i used to give in , i visited this yard quite a few times and eventually while waiting for someone gave in and started stroking him and he headbutted me !Grrrrrrr! And he used to pace his box
Then after that when he spotted my car he would come down to gate it was all a bit strange but he wormed his way in to our familys affections, and a few months later after this horse chose us as owners, not the type i was looking for but turned out perfect ayear later but he does have a back issue:( this last week and im really worried about him
