Put this in SB. But do you always believe what the newspaper and animal welfare groups say, like the GN as not one of them have come out about the 2 horses that died in the Scottish Grand National. Animal Aid I gather don't you to even a pet and Petra is as bad. With the papers it was just to sell extra copies, Animal groups I'm begining to distrust, I give to Spania and what was called ILPH, still cann't get round their new name and those with pleasure as Spania they are trying to help overworked animals in the 3 world from abuse and overwork.

Do you mean PETA? To be honest, I don't personally know enough about what Animal Aid do or aim to do but, with things like the Grand National, I think they just like to try and jump on it because it is a big, national, televised event. I think they like to milk it. Sadly every week horses die racing and also partaking in other sports too so i think distort things really as they just go for one event as it seems to be all quite the rest of the year. I think really they should look at the bigger picture as far as animal Welfare is concerned.

As for PETA - again, I don't know enough but, i like many, saw that TV programme about the fur trade and some of the PETA (I think was theirs anyway) footage of skinning dogs in China was just horrific and too upsetting. They are not making it up though are they and I think people need to see what goes on. What can us as the general public do though? They seem to like to shock but don't let us know what, if anything we can do. I am never sure about giving money to these types of charities as i don't know how it would help or what it's used for.

I hate to see any animal die, get hurt or be scared but it does happen and I think we're all responsible for looking after animals and reporting those who don't. However, I don't necessarily think these charities do a lot of good jumping on the horse racing and making out it's cruel based on what unfortunate incidents happen in a big, televised race.

Sorry Pastie2 as someone said on SB thread hard to understand. What I should have said several tabloids and 2 animal welfare groups wanted the GN banned and yet 2 horses died in the Scottish GN and not a peep from anyone, so is it double standards.Or are most people not really bother about NH racing except when it's the Grand National

Thank you Ladyt, and yes I did spell PETA wrong. I get annoyed with the tabloid papers and just stop buying them, but some of these animal charities seem to jump on the bandwagon for the publicity
