While speaking to a nice lady today about transferring the paperwork for my pony I mentioned that I can't really make out his freezemark now that he is a little more fluffy (he is grey do it's the bald mark)

The lady recommended clipping the area so it's clearly visible or it's not really a deterrent for thieves

I will do that but just wondered who else does it? I thought it was a good point!

Yes, I do due to my mares colouring (she has roan patches) the freezemark doesn't show up very well unless the coat is clipped.

Yes I do. I have a cob who is trace clipped and I do her freezemark area and another youngster that just gets his freezemark bit done! You can really see them well after a clip.

Yes I always do it when I clipped any of the horse I've had but present horse is very fine skinned so may not need clipping and you can see his freezemark very clearly.

ALSO DONT FORGET, NO POINT FREEZEMARKING A HORSE IF HIS RUGS ARE NOT PAINTED WITH HIS NUMBER. A POTENTIAL THIEF WILL NOT TAKE RUGS OFF HORSES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TO SEE IF THEY ARE FREEZEMARKS.
