Our current field master will only jump stuff that she thinks the whole field will have a chance of getting over, but I find that ever so boring!!

I'm not one to go out of my way to jump silly big stuff, but at the end of the day I hunt to have fun!!

So I find myself getting naughtier!! When we were out on Saturday I heard FM say "that line's a bit too much for the field" so I just had to follow one of the whips instead of her! :p

Then later on she was a bit scared off by a couple of seriously big walls, but I fancied them so went for it!!

So I do what I want basically, but I don't go anywhere I shouldn't be.

Do you think that kind of behavior is disrespectful/wrong?? The FM is only my age and no one *seems* to have a problem with it??

I guess what i'm trying to ask is - what are you're thoughts on "jollying"? :p

I think you are what is known as a 'thruster'! Well done to you. Often hunts have 2 masters out - one for the jumpers and one for the rest which is a good idea.

yeah we tend to have 2 FMs, one of which is brilliant. He just jumps anything for the sake of fun so as long as you can keep up you are bound to have a brilliant time! On one of our kids meets we whizzed round the kennels land where all the hunter trials jumps are whilst waiting for the hounds to get on.... just for the fun of it :)

I think Sal should be fieldmaster again, zero order and plenty of deathly large jumps. I do get a little bit "come on, give us something beefy" and then usually follow you, ever so quietly bricking myself !

I wish we had two field masters out... we get told off if we go off and do anything fun :( and half the time I know the country better than the masters (I had to lead the field for about 1/2 an hour the other week as everyone was lost and no idea how to get out) so its not as though I'm going anywhere I shouldn't... our lot just tend to be a bit wimpy... (mind you if my OH's out he tends to just go off and do things and sod being shouted out)

Well i got a bit cocky out on saturday and it backfired! Followed the master who jumps and attempts EVERYTHING, he even struggled on this boggy ditch he wanted to cross, his little daughter after him managed, but she was on this grey welsh sec a AKA mountain goat, that clambered up the ditch whilst the daughter kept kick kick kicking!! it was great to watch, but my attempt wasn't so successful and ended up squelched and crushed into the ditch with my horse on top of me! Ouch!
Both of us are having to have ourselves clicked into place by a mctimoney miracle worker, me today, my boy tomorrow!!

SO.....perhaps it is better to stay with the self-preservationists!!!

At least i'm helping the air ambulance alot with funding!!! ( we have to pay each time we fall off!! even more if your horse b*ggers off!)

Our hunt thought they were doing really well donating £1000 to Air Ambulance - they then discovered that would fund 1 helicopter for about 3 hours! :p Lets hope it's three ours on a Saturday - around 11 - 2 would be good! :smirk:

I jump what ever the filed master jumps along with Claire above ! as she said on the last kids meet he took us for a blast around the hunt land jumping anything and everything! was FAB!! At the end of the it did kind of back fire on me when i attempted a big hedge! she jumped it but i fell off in the process lol! was fine and got back on and jumped it the opposite way! she jumped it PERFECTLY and was an amazing feeling! i tend to "test" her a little out hunting to see how big she can actually jump (bless her) but that is only because i haven't the bottle when i'm at home :o!

He always checks that the jumps we jump are safe before he takes the field over but he jumps anything just for fun and therefore most of the field have an amazing time as well. most jumps you have the choice because we have a 2 field masters!

I went visiting as I got fed up with my pack being boring! and I got a bit cocky and showy offy and ended up with the horse on top of me and stitches in my chin and very bruised ribs but.......it was so much fun!!! hehehe

Oh and when I had previously been visiting this pack I nearly got sent home for jumping a ditch I shouldn't have! oops! but I said I couldn't stop my horse......
