...do you ever sit and think up good names for horses you havent bought or bred yet?

phew! lol

am planning to send 2 mares to stud next year, circumstances meant ive left it too late for this year, and im thinking of baby names before the girls are even on the wagon, never mind in foal haha

Oh yes, all the time, and they NEVER suit the horse/dog etc.

Hence the "what to call him?" thread for the new boy.

Ooh yes

I went through a phase of wanting a whole yard of horses with names from shakespearean plays.

Oh yes!
We go to our local (very low end) sales occasionally *just for a look*

and have seen more than one that we would have liked if 'it wasn't in foal/ went for a bit less/ was a bit bigger' etc and we've named them and what's more we still talk about 'Ruby' who wanted to eat the beef sandwich which we thought was AWFUL. and several others. Have always managed to be strong-minded enough not to succumb and bring something totally unsuitable away with us.

I used to all the time, but now i am actually dabbling in a bit of breeding i try not too incase it jinx' anything!
Having said that Rusty was named about 3/4 days before he appeared into the world!!
