enjoying fireworks displays over the coming days, given all the distress it could cause animals?

I am going to a friends garden/street party on Saturday. I must say I feel a little concerned about the animals......

My cats are so used to hearing fireworks for weeks at a time as the yr ends that they don't seem bothered. My horse, well that is another issue.....

I hate them as much as my animals do. As a child I used to hide under the table and cry my eyes out for the whole night. So am much happier with the horses. Its the noise that does it

I dont mind ones which dont bang or make any noise! Ive seen some amazing displays in America. But I dont see the point in the shitty stupid ones we have here which are so crap so they try to make up for it with the noisiest ones

i like looking at them but hate hate hate the noise (well i am a nervous wreck) and am scared that some of it will go in my eye or something! ( i watched a safety video when i was at school, scarred me for life)

plus they annoy me when i am watching telly

I love fireworks; have had some cracking parties here over the years, a full community type thing but have to agree that I don't like the banging ones at all; do think they should be banned completely. Haven't had fireworks here for 10 years - and won't be again tbh.
Not only pets but what about all the birds and wild animals, it must shock them something awful and they have no one to comfort them?
I have to agree now, I think they should be confined to public displays only now, no selling over the counter to anyone and the operators should be overseen by the fire brigade or something too..

I HATE fireworks! Agree they should be confined to public displays only! If my OH manages to convince me to leave the dog (who isn't bothered by them btw) and go to see some, it will be an organised display at the local diving centre, which is miles away from animals and local people know it is going to be on. However it's unlikely, as I can't stand the banging and the chavvy kids!

I don't mind seeing them, but wouldn't worry if I never saw any again, I just HATE the noise. I have said, for many years, that they should only be available for official public displays. Seems so many people agree with this idea too.

Not at all, I love fireworks. I suppose I'm lucky in that none of my animals are bothered by them. In fact the dumb dog seems to think it will be raining pheasants
