im sure this was posted a while ago but i cant find it! anyway....

......i was riding Frankie at the riding school today as a 'trial run' as im taking him there for lessons in a couple of weeks, and i wanted to see what he was like in the indoor school. the day that i booked the school with the manager i said i was riding Frankie, and she said 'that piebald that lives down the road, xxxxx used to ride him?' and she gave me a look. like 'oh my god you want to bring him here?!' i asked why, and she said because he is so sharp and spooky and xxxx who used to ride him had some nasty accidents and close calls......i was like 'brilliant! thanks for letting me know that!' i know he was spooky but nothing like that.....oh and she said 'well hes foreign, so what do you expect?!' oh well......

.....then i rode him this morning, he was on his toes as you might expect, took him in the school and he was spooking at jump wings, the walls,

and generally being a toss pot. i was a little nervous, which i dont think helped. i managed to calm down, and Frankie started to work really nicely. whenever he would have a spak attack i would calmly ask him to not be so silly and walk/trot on, and he did, albeit quite tense. towards the end though he really started to stretch and relax, and i was very happy

a woman at the yard asked me when i walked out of the school, 'is that mad Frank?' i said yes, and she said ' oh xxxx used to ride him' i then said 'i think xxxxx is a bit more confident than i am!' and she replied 'well xxxxx was crazy!'

on the walk home i was thinking, perhaps Frankie has just grown up a bit, or maybe because i am a quiet rider who doesnt get wound up so easily (ok i can be a scaredy cat, but i hide it

) i calm Frankie down. and because his old rider xxxxx was 'crazy' it just wound Frankie up even more.

does anyone have the faintest idea what im talking about or am i talking (****)!!!

lol i suit my mare down to a T acording to my OH.. she is chestnut moody mare, fantastic at pulling faces and getting what she wants. ooh and loves her food!

I am red headed, moody (pmt) mare, loves to eat and tries very hard to get what i want.. most of the time i do get what i want after a strop or two.. so yes i guess we are very alike!

lol good topic!

Yep! My last horse (the grey in my siggie) was a complete stress-head, he was a connie TB cross and very intelligent but he was so difficult to ride as he got so wound up about everything. He would spook, spin, rear and generally be a complete pain in the a**e if the mood took him, and whilst I tried to keep calm and just let it pass me by I am quite a stressy person myself so I think we made each other worse!! I am much better suited to Missie whom I have now; she is much more laid back and chilled in her personality, which means I relax more and everyone's happy! So yes I agree with you some people suit some horses more than others!

yeah when i first started riding him i was like 'what have a let myself in for??!!' and was a bit worried that he was too much for me, event though i have ridden horses like that in the past. although i can be quite nervous myself i am getting so much better at calming down and i think it translates to him!

he is not nasty in any way just a big pussy! lol

Yes I guess similarities would be a bit of grumpiness first thing in the morning, food glorious food, stubborn and cheeky!
