a) I’m at my wits end…….
b) I’ve tried everything but I just can’t get my horse to…….
c) How do I get my horse to…………
d) My horse keeps doing……….. what do I do to stop him

Etc etc etc

Reading about things in books & on forums is fine but translating that to when you are riding & trying to feel what is happening to the horse rarely works .
The answer to so many threads is ‘Book a lesson with an Instructor’, that's what they're there for……………….It ain’t rocket science why won’t people do this! It will cost a few quid but the problem may well be sorted out in one lesson or at least they'd be pointed in the right direction, so money well spent.

Completely agree with this :)

Though even after a years worth of lessons with a Grand Prix dressage rider 2 times a month, the mare still goes around on her forehand :p stick a jump infront of her and she's on her hocks straight away... Problem solved :p :D

Still money well spent cus I learned so much more in 3 lessons with her than I did in 5 years a PC :) and the mare can do all sorts she couldn't/I couldn't before :)

No I don't agree!! I've had tons of lessons with different instructors all qualified experienced etc etc and they do NOT always have the answers
I've learned just as much from reading both books and on forums

I do agree a good instructor is usually the answer and best course of action. I would say that i do like to read posts especially in CR about training methods etc but they are only of any use if the person reading them can make it practically apply to thier situation and thier horse. Having said that if you are posting to say you are at your wits end then you are beyond this point and only a third party in person with the right skills and knowledge are going to be able to help.

I've learnt a vast amount on here and been given some excellent advice which has really helped me with my horse.

I dont get fed up reading the posts, but as you say, I just get fed up with the attitude that getting an instructor is the last resort!

If I want to go sky diving I dont get on a sleazy jet flight with a homemade parachute, enjoy a cardboard lunch then open the door mid air, cross my fingers and hope for the best.....I get an qualified instructor! Quite frankly, both sports can be as dangerous..

Yes I agree! I also think sometimes the answer is one not alot of people want to hear.... Sell it its too much/unsuitable for you! This for most of us is a hobby and if you dont enjoy it whats the bloody point!!
