Im so upset/angry/cross as my thoughtless neighbour has taken a local woman down to our field today, his is accessed through a shared track across mine unfortunately, and this woman is very rough - known for riding across farmers lands having lots of animal welfare issues etc and my sodding neighbour has just shown her where my animals are kept and taken her 'for a good look around'?!?! FOR WHAT SODDING PURPOSE?!?! ARGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Please tell me Im not the only one who gets really upset by things like this?!
 
No you are not alone

I get very annoyed when people wander on to my field uninvited to stroke all the animals. Its not a blooming petting zoo!
 
I do too! Over the last few weeks, I have had mini-meltodowns about rubbish thrown in the field (one was a drinks can that the three year old cut the sole of her hoof on, cue two vet visits and a lot of box rest) and wanted to come to blows with the neighbour who seems to believe that he can build his bleddy shed out from his garden into the field! :eek: :mad: Had to tell him to take the roof beams down as they were sticking out a foot over our field, just ready to take a horses eye out! :mad: In your shoes I would have been equally miffed, not his stuff to show off.
 
Not often, but last night I went into meltdown...
Neighbour 2 fields away has no control over her 7+ dogs despite being a dog warden.

The went through their fences to the wooded (privately owned) area adjacent to my top field, flushed 4 deer & then chased them through my fields.
There I was in the pitch dark hammering back 3 fences that were demolished as the deer panicked through them to get out.
As I am fenced to keep most sorts in (including mini-people) the deer struggled to get out again..........

Its NOT the 1st time, but they will let the dogs run loose while poo-picking & this happens on occasions, either that or their 2 smallest ones dig under my stock proof fence & get in my top summer paddock & shyte there. Am fed up with filling in the holes under the fences :(

I'm pretty easy going, don't mind people using the footpath through the fields or making a fuss of the horses as long as they have a bit of common sense. A neighbour was feeding my laminitic susceptible /EMS horse over the hedge. Fortunately, a friendly word explaining why it was potentially harmful enabled the man to realise that his kindness was any thing but kind.

However, I'd be a bit miffed at the scenerio that TigerTail describes. I'd feel uneasy at having someone like that getting up close and personal with my two.
 
On Friday between 7-7.30-am someone opened my gate and walked across the yard to put a cooker and loads of tiles in a skip that had only arrived the night before. The gate was only unlocked for 20mins!
Later on Friday morning two travellers pulled up in the driveway opened the gate and wandered all around my garden, which is currently a building site, having a good look at all the machinery and into the garages and hay barn! The builders were there and asked who they were and they just walked off and got in their van. The police obviously aren't able to do anything as they didn't take anything but they were clearly looking to see what we have! We've spent the weekend putting alarms on every door in all the outbuildings and put new stronger padlocks on everything. I now feel very protective of my land and horses particularly as some horses got out on the roads about 5mins away the night before when someone was trying to steal them. A couple of local yards have had their stable doors stolen recently so I feel on high alert all the time which isn't nice.
 
But OP, if your neighbour's only access is shared over your land then if he wants to go there or take anyone there he has to cross your land and you must have known that when you bought it.

It's a bit different to most situations where there is no right of access to anyone else - in those cases one is justifiably angry if others cross one's land but given that there is shared access I'm afraid I don't understand your outrage.
 
jemima its his lack of consideration that grinds, or that he just doesn't seem to think about the type of person he's allowing to wander around and basically giving a map to of our horses.

Also I was here first, and had the rent of the second field until its owner sold it privately failing to offer me first refusal as promised so…….
 
Yep, I get really mad. Especially with the morons that can't read the 'please do not feed the horses' signs. I've had to put electric fencing along both sides of the footpath that crosses my little bit of Berkshire to stop people going for a nosey in the stables. A while ago I actually had some people come in the main gate (I'd left it open while unloading my car) and try to walk through from there, through another gate, just to get to the footpath - OMG did I shout at them or what!!!!
 
No it doesn't bother me at all, in fact I avidly encourage all the horse riders in the area to make use of all our trails. Our forest trails lead on to a huge network of other trails so a lot of riders wouldn't be able to get to them if they didn't have access through the part of the forest owned by me. I do have one rule however, don't gallop through the middle of our hay fields. That will nark me a lot and I WILL drive on out to that field and shout at you! Stick to the edges of the hay fields and you'll be just fine.
 
I get angry when people are where they have no right to be, it infuriates me.

However, in your situation I don't think he has done anything wrong? Your neighbour has a legal interest in the access track and can invite whoever he wants down there.

Unfortunately the "I was there first" argument isn't going to contractually bind your neighbours to behave like decent human beings. Some people are just annoying, and the only way of limiting annoyance to down and out trespassers is to buy somewhere with no neighbours, no shared access, and ultimately no rights of way.

Mainly because my field is like a fortress, so anyone/anything trying to get in or out would have such a hard time doing so.

Which is why I got so miffed about a dog coming in!

However, I really don't care about people petting them at the gate and if someone comes to the gate while I'm there, I'll take the horses over to say hi.
 
I don't have problems like this BUT I do occasionally have issues with people galloping up and down a private path which runs along the side of my field and it normally happens wither when I'm tacking up outside or long-reining, lungeing, backing a youngster. Why can't people have a bit more consideration?
 
I understand your outrage perfectly OP.
And I'd be pretty miffed about the previous owner selling the field without asking you first, although you can't really hold that against the new neighbour!
 
I've had most of the above scenarios. Dogs loose chasing horses, field being a dog toilet, people wandering well away from the path into the next field to nose at my stable (including in the snow-not professional burglars, then...), feeding ponies garden waste, glass and building waste dumped over hedge, garden waste fires IN the field, neighbours kids playing football and drinking in the field, fence cut so locals could take short cut to pub...I could go on. Been on livery since March and you know what? I don't think I'd go back. Not to those fields anyway. I didn't realise just how often I got annoyed until I saw threads on here. I still have the odd fume, when I see a dog poo in my field or shelter, but it's most likely yard owner's dog and that's my only grievance. She goes the extra mile with a LOT of things, so I keep my mouth shut. ;)
