Just wondering? Do you have a day to day saddle and then one for competing in? Or do you just ride in the same one?

I ride in the same one but worry that I am wearing out my good saddle. Having said that I would be a bit concerned about putting a different saddle on my horse than the one she was used to normally. (if you see what I am getting at)

I do have a nice show saddle but it has been used day to day in the past. I would rather be comfortable in tack that I know and I know the horse works well in, than change on a show day when things can be a bit tense anyway

No not just for shows. I have separate tack for schooling which is what I use when we go to dressage, not using it for general hacking keeps it that bit nicer. I'd never change my boys bridle let alone saddle for shows, it took him a month to get used to his new bridle!!!

Wow! I couldn't afford two sets of saddles - but I have to confess to having a super Sabre bridle which I keep just for shows.

It's gorgeous and I try and keep it really nice...
i also worry that I'm wearing out my lovely saddle, but I also think that a change of saddle for shows might actually upset my boy as it would feel different. Unless you have two of the same - but then the wear would be different as the everyday would be more worn in than the show one.

Am now very green with envy at the thought of a saddle just for shows though!!

I have 2 saddles and 2 bridles, but 1 set if for jumping and the other for dressage. I keep both in good condition all the time, so it only takes a quick dust up to make them suitable for a show.

No, I can't afford 2 dressage saddles!

He has 2 bridles (one black, one brown), his dressage saddle and then a battered slightly scuffed Stubben which I use for hacking and jumping - including jumping at shows its fine after a bit of a polish.

I have competition bridles( nice jeffries elite ones) but uses same saddles for everyday, even though they were expensive they go well in them so I dont see the point in changing. I have 2 horses. i do have a dressage saddle that I only use for comps and very occasionally I use it at home. Too lazy to change leathers over!!

Just a different noseband as the little darling quietly chewed the end of one. No point in replacing it for day to day as he'd just as likely do same thing again!

Am lucky enough to use a GP and a dressage saddle, but use both day to day. Apart from the fact that dressage is most useful to school in and GP more secure for a spooky hack, I would feel out of place in the dressage one if I saved it for special occasions only!

I have a GP and dressage saddle that I use for everyday and shows. Both are synthetic so just need to be wiped clean for shows

I have an everyday flash bridle and an everyday grakle and a show version of both. It means I keep the show bridles looking nice for best (as I'm a little lazy and rarely clean my everyday bridles).

All my tack I use every day and for shows.

I always think if you buy good quality tack and keep it clean it will last, I clean my bridles before events and they look new!

I have a flash bridle and dressage saddle for dressage and a grackle bridle, breastplate and event saddle for jumping and they are used every day and for comps

True but I am lazy and besides I love my Stubben bridle and my show grakle and wouldn't want them scratched by every day use - couldn't afford to go and just buy new ones. My flash (rarely cleaned) bridle has lasted me 3 years though and it is only a cheaper one (although I have just lost the flash strap

And a good leather cleaner will polish most scratches out!

I only have one saddle and it's a WH style one anyway so ideal for both shows and everyday use, although it requires an awful lot of polishing before a show to bring the colour back up (it's black but swiftly going greenish in places, damn second hand saddles!)

She has a separate show bridle but I use the same noseband on both, it's the only one I've ever found that suits her. Her cheapo everyday bridle is due to be replaced but the show bridle still looks good three years on.

Used to have a bridle for shows and a bridle for everyday but their everyday bridles have worn out so now using their 'show' bridles everyday. only have 1 jump saddle for each of them so use the same for everyday and shows

One saddle, but I do ride in a cover all the time to keep it looking nice! He does have two bridles though, mainly because when all the RS kids untack him if I'm not there they tend to drop it in the mud!

ALthough I don't have a horse at the mo I used to have a show bridle and an everyday bridle, but only one saddle. As every one said wouldn't want to switch just for a show also with a bum like mine you can't see it anyway

I use the same tack for both home and competition, although have a seperate bridle for showing, don't think she would like it if i rode her in a double everyday
grin.gif

Yes, different tack for one horse - According to what we are doing, we swap between a snaffle bridle or a double or a pelham. Much easier to have them ready sorted out, esp the havanna showing pelham briddle. They have been aquired over many years, not gone out and bought 3 bridles all at once.!

Best show saddle is used occasionally and for shows.
Everyday use a GP,

Other horse only needs a snaffle bridle and has owkring one and a best one, but one saddle, a Working Hunter saddle that is suitable for all activities.

I wouldnt say i have "show" tack but i have....

A dressage bridle for each horse
A jumping/hacking bridle for each horse

Then saddle wise i have my dressage saddle (they both share that) my pessoa close contact my jumping saddle that i use at home & shows on both of them. Then i have a gfs jumpingaddle as a spare/yard saddle, just incase some one comes to ride with me or the pessoa is still in lorry from a show
