Hi guys, as title says really.

Do you HAVE to put a gamgee pad or something like that underneath an exercise or stable bandage?

Never used bandages before except on dressings so not sure, but i do know it can damage the horse if done wrong so want to ask before charging out and wrecking my horses legs!

:):):)

Thank you xxx

I would on stable bandages, but not necessarily on exercise bandages. Depends on the horse.
Get the nice soft ones (i.e. Anky/eskadron etc) rather than the horrid elasticated ones and you should be fine.

My rather old fashioned idea would be yes you must always do so and am horrified to see horses with bandages and no pads however I believe that there are new bandages about that dont need them. However I would never ever bandage without pads no matter what the design was supposed to do.

Yes, every time......... Especially exercise bandages, the elastic needs the pad to even out the 'pull' of the bandage and create an even pressure.
I guess a stable bandage wouldn't be so bad, as it is fleecy and not stretchy, so pressure would be more even.....but still like a pad to make sure pressure is even

Half or full fleece bandages, no I wouldn't, unless it was for stabling/travelling. I never use bandages that often or for very long so think he'll be alright.
