Hi everyone.
Currently looking for some info on my ponys background although I am well aware given the circumstances that I will probably never find anything.
Dudley was bought from a horse sales (possibly an auction - it was unclear where exactly) in wales, to a woman called Gwend Evans, she said she and her daughter fell in love with his personality and couldnt leave him there, so they bought him. I have made contact with her but she also knows little about Dudley. She bought him when he was about 6 or 7 and was actually the one that named him Dudley - he was nameless. Dudley looks like a regular connemara although his passport gives no background as it was Gwend who actually registered him. He is registered as a Connemara X. He stands at approx 13.2 -14hh. He is a grey gelding with pigeon toes and he has a very playful nature, he is cheeky and energetic. After having owned him for 7 years I can say that he has barely changed. He is quite stubborn but loveable. I am not even sure Dudley has been trained at all, previous owners have just used him for a bit of fun, hacking etc nothing serious and as have I. After speaking with Gwend she had assumed he was shipped over from ireland as it is quite common for people to ship over ponies after breeding them. I just find it weird that he wasnt shipped over when he was younger (like 3?) Why at 6? Why was he not named? It is a really shady past. Has anyone else known a story like his? It just doesn't make sense.
I appreciate any information, and information regarding the way people ship horses from ireland. I am interested to hear any stories as it helps me imagine scenarios and possibly bring me a step closer to finding something out.
